The National Elementary Schools Press Association is an organization dedicated to helping elementary and middle schools start new and improve existing class and school newspapers. The association serves as a clearinghouse for schools interested in sharing information and media with member schools from coast to coast

NESPA was founded in 1994 at Carolina Day School in Asheville, NC by Mark Levin. In 2011, the organization was transferred to the University of Alabama’s Department of Journalism and Creative Media. Hailey Allen was appointed to the position of Executive Director in 2022.  Click here to learn more about NESPA’s move.
